Obstacle Database License European Alps 2021
The obstacle database license makes it possible for the FLARM system to also warn about imminent obstacle collisions with fixed objects such as cable railways, powerlines, or antenna masts stored in the database.
This specific database covering the European Alps region includes over 100,000 obstacle elements in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Italy, France, and Slovenia, and was compiled in January 2021. It spans over a latitude from 43° to 48° North and longitude from 5° to 16° East.
Safety note: This database covers one large area in one file but – with some local exceptions – does not contain most antennas/towers and powerlines. In case you regularly fly very close to the terrain, chose one of the detailed obstacle databases available for specific countries. Only one database can be stored in the device, and only one obstacle file must be present on the SD-card/USB-stick inserted in a FLARM device. Save your flight logs prior to uploading a new obstacle database.
Ensure that the firmware is updated to the latest version before updating the obstacle database.
Each database is licensed and operational until a specified date (for this database: January 31, 2022) after which an expiration warning on startup will appear.
The map below shows all obstacles which are available in the obstacle database.
