When the FLARM device has calculated that there is an impending collision risk, relevant data is sent to the connected display. The display then shows the bearing, distance and altitude difference to the intruder, together with an aural warning. Many displays also offer additional features, like showing nearby aircraft on a screen, spoken warnings, configuration capabilities, etc.
All FLARM displays communicate with the FLARM device using a FLARM specific NMEA protocol. The protocol specification is freely available to developers.
Except for the integrated display in PowerFLARM Portable, FLARM Technology does not sell any displays. The following companies however produce FLARM displays and their dealers will be happy to help you choose the right one:
